Another hair goal of mines!!!

17 Mar

I know you guys must be tired of me talking about 2014 as the year of opportunity… Hair opportunity but I really think this year will be a great year! I know many natural don’t really like to set a goal for themselves because if they don’t eat to a certain length they get disappointed but I like setting goals for my self, I like to be disappointed it makes me push harder for what I want. The picture I attached to this post was a picture I saw on insta and tumblr and I couldn’t help to love everything about the picture. Her hair was what I loved the most and I’ve decided this is my hair length goal for this year. With a lot of deep conditioning, sealing and sprinting with water I’m sure I can make it there! Wish me luck guys čÖé

4b/4c vloggers!!!!!!!!!!

16 Feb

Having 4b/4c hair can be very frustrating sometimes especially when your newly natural and you have no idea to do with your tight curls. Here is a list of Vloggers that I love and go to for inspiration ALL the time.

*Also keep in mind that someone doesn’t have to have your same hair type for you to know how to handle and moisturize your hair, everyones different*

– glamfun

I love her so much she is so funny and is nothing but honest!

– 4cHairChick

She has lots of experience and is very helpful with tips and styling products recommendations.

She was the reason why I didn’t stop my natural hair journey, she was always committed to putting up videos on videos on Youtube and she always share her trials and Eros and her success. Although she is no longer with us, she is a┬ádefinitely┬ánatural hair inspiration of my for not only 4c hair but natural hair.

OMG! Joulezy is who I got to when I think that 4c hair cant be defined! She has so many cool tips on bringing out your natural hair pattern or even making different curl patters with rollers, perm rods and curl formers!

The first person I saw on youtube and the first person I went to when I just big chopped. She is so knowledgeable and is very helpful with tips on styling and creating looks that people think that type 4 hair can never do. Although I’m nt sure what she places herself on a hair typing chart she looks like a 4b/ 4c to me.

These are My top 5 natural vloggers but trust me there’s a lot of other Vloggers I love and have learned a ton about with type 3 curls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you can see from the title I love two-strand twists. There are endless amount of reasons why I love two strand twists but the number one reason I love two strand twists so dearly is that you retain so much length when you do them. When your hair is in this protective style it is protected and is not manipulated often. The reason why natural hair doesn’t grow is that naturals manipulate their hair so much it leads to a mass amount of breakage. Although length retention is a great plus on keeping your hair in two strand twists the health of your hair is very important. When your hair is in two strand twists it’s easier to moisturize your hair and make sure your ends are moisturized. You can easily seal your hair in this protective style as often as you like and while your at it you can dust your ends.

Tips To Get Your Hair To Hang

8 Feb

So I personally have a hard time to get my curls to hang and this is because of length and my hair type but I wont be able to know for sure until I have at least APL length. Although I have trouble with getting my curls to hang does not mean I have heard so tips to take into consideration. I’ve heard tons of tips on how to get your curls to hang but since I;m in a protective styles all the time I’ve never tried it out. I will list some helpful tips I’ve heard on giving you hair some hang time.

1. clip your hair at the roots to get your hair to stay flat and not frizzy and rise towards the sun.

2. Where you two strand twist your hair really matters so try to twist your hair in the way you want your hair to hang.

3. Using heavy products can weigh down your hair and give your hair hang time

4. Putting rollers or perm rods at the ends of your hair weigh your hair down enough for your hair to stay down the whole day.

5. Wearing a scarf at night sets your hair in a down position so when you undo your twists/braids your style stay down.

These are some ways I’ve been told to get your curls to hang but if your curls don’t hang naturally then you have to manipulate your hair in some way whether it be a twist out or a braid out.

Top 5 Natural hair tips

5 Feb

These are tips that newly naturals, transitioners and long term naturals need to know. Following these steps are the most basic ways to retain length and be a calm patient natural.

1. use minimal heat

2. keep your natural hair trimmed(I would love to tell you how oftent you should do it but everyone’s hair is different and it also depends on how often you seal but I trim once every 6 months.

3.Do not comb hair when its dry! this is like killing your hair LOL. It breaks and you retain 0 length. You can try detangling on damp, wet or hair that has a good enough amount of leav in.(finger detangling is best.

4. Although I send hair accessories are your best friends in a previouse post you have to make sure their safe to use. something that is too tight around your hair or that pulls on your edges is a no go no matter how cute it looks.

5. Every product that you use should have aqua/ water as a first ingredient

Deep conditioning???

5 Feb

OK, since honesty is the best policy I’m going to start off by saying I don’t deep condition as often as I should čśŽ i know its terrible but i often do think about it but when i do DC my hair comes out incredibly soft and moisturized it makes me think about why I don’t do it. This is why I’m writing this post to tell you guys how i get really soft protein filled hair!(hopefully I can start taking my own DC’ing advice)

4 tbs of EVOO

2 tbs of pure honey

1 tbs of coconut oil(can change amount depends on you)

place the coconut oil, honey and EVOO in a small cup and place the cup in a large bowl of hot water. Allow the cup to sit in the water for a few minutes. Until the mixture is warm. Pour the mix onto freshly washed hair but towel blotted hair. THen put on a shower cap and wrap with a towel to prevent the mix from dripping. Let the mix sit in your hair for 20 min + then wash hair thoroughly with cold water( IMPORTANT!!!!!)
