Pro’s and con’s on protective styling

21 Jan

In my last post I talked about my opinion on protective styles and how I feel they’ve helped me so far in my natural hair journey but now i will share not only the Pro’s but the Con’s on protective styling.

– Less manipulation: less manipulation lead to less breakage that results in more hair growth

-Styling Versatility: With a weave or braid extensions you can manipulate your extension constantly without harming your real hair

– More patient with your hair growth: wearing a weave or braid extensions gives you time to think about other things than your hair so you will become more patient and by the time your ready to remove your extensions your hair would have grown.

– many different looks including color change: sometimes you want to try a new color on your hair but not sure how it will look so you can use extensions to try out how it will look on you.

-Temporary or permanent hair loss: If you keep your extensions for too long it can lead to permanent hair loss

– Installation time: YES!!!! its true getting your hair braided can take up to 14 hours depending on the style.

-budget: getting your hair braided or getting your weave done every two months ain’t cheap it can really burn a hole in your pockets(in my case my parents pocket)

-Too tight: Depending on your stylist if your real hair is pulled to tight than can damage your hair especially along the edges.

-Is protective styling something you want to try or is there another way you like to retain length?

Thanks for every other wonderful article. Where else could anyone get that type of info in such an ideal method of writing?
I’ve a presentation next week, and I’m on the
